Who was Kongar | Real History of Goktug Alp | Brother of Konur Alp | Kurulus Osman Character
In Kurulus Osman, an actor named Burak Çelik joined the series while portraying an important character Kongar or Goktug. After watching Kongar or Goktug in Kurulus Osman Season, people started searching about this important character in history.
So, I have gathered some information about Kongar or Goktug like who was Kongar? What was his relation to Kayi Tribe? When Kongar died? So, here is curious information.
As we know that the Mongols were at their peak during the establishment state of the Ottoman Empire. At that time, their only aim was the expansion of the Mongol Empire. So, they invaded every land and every city which came in their way. When the Mongols reached the Anatolia, they also invaded the Turkish tribes residing there to compel them to obey or execute them. As we also have seen in Dirilis Ertugrul, Mongols attacked the Kayi tribe many times. But Ertugrul succeeded in responding to their attacks along with the help of his Alps. But there were many other Turkish tribes too. So, the family of the Kongar/Goktug was also from one of those Turkish tribes. Their tribe name is yet unknown to us.
The father of Kongar/Goktug and Konur Alp was also an army man who was fighting against the Mongols at that time. Once, the Mongols attacked their tribe and some Mongolian soldiers came near to the tent of Kongar/Goktug and Konur Alp, who were hiding along with their mother. They forcibly entered the tent and tried to snatch the children. Both Kongar/Goktug and Konur Alp were young at that time. While trying to save their children, their mother got killed by the Mongolian soldiers. During that time, the elder brother Konur Alp succeeded in escaping from there but the younger Kongar/Goktug got captured. The Mongolian soldiers took him and sold him in slave market. A Mongolian Commander, Balgay bought it when he was child.
The elder brother Konur Alp succeeded in reaching the Kayi tribe and later became an important and closest friend to Osman Ghazi. On the other hand, Kongar/Goktug was brought up by Balgay, who brain-washed him about his Religion and childhood memories. Goktug completely forgot his past. But Konur Alp was having clear memories of that day. Kongar/Goktug also became a brave warrior and Balgay was conquering a lot of areas by using him. And this was the reason that made Balgay wish for the throne of the Mongol Empire. While invading the areas, Balgay reached the Kayi tribe. It was the time when Konur Alp recognized his brother. He wasn’t ready to accept that his brother was fighting against him. But he was compelled to admit that after seeing the sign on his neck.
From then, Konur Alp started to take measures to bring Kongar/Goktug back to him. And the time came when he succeeded in reverting Kongar/Goktug to Islam. Then Kongar/Goktug also proved himself an important spy. He helped the Osman Ghazi to defeat the Mongols. There isn’t any information available about his early life and the burial place. He spent his whole life while fighting in the battlefields. It can be estimated that he would be buried near to his brother Konur Alp whose tomb is estimated to be located in Konuralp village in Duzce Province, Turkey. And ALLAH (SWT) knows the best.
